RIM
has released its enterprise mobile device management software BlackBerry
Enterprise Service 10, delivering a single console to manage BlackBerry,
Android, and iOS devices.
BlackBerry
Enterprise Service (BES) 10 is a consolidation of RIM's enterprise and device
management services. It provides a single area to manage corporate
communication, data, and devices in one place, taking the place of BES,
ActiveSync, and Mobile Fusion. In addition to supporting BlackBerry devices -
including BlackBerry 7, BlackBerry 10, and BlackBerry Playbooks - it supports
the iPhone, iPad, and Android smartphones or tablets.
BES
10 features BlackBerry Balance, a tool RIM touts as being an ideal solution to
separate Work and Personal spaces within BB10 devices that splits apps,
settings, and data privileges. Other features of the new enterprise service
include
-
BYOD management for multiple platforms
-
Secure email and connections to company data
-
BlackBerry World app store specifically for work that lets management push installations
for required apps and recommend apps for personal use
-
Custom administrative privileges and controls for email, SCEP, Wi-Fi, VPN, and
proxy servers
BES
10 is available for download now and comes with a free 60-day trial. More information
is available at RIM's website.
