Months
after Windows Phone 8 debuted with devices like the Windows Phone 8X by HTC and
the Nokia Lumia 920, the official Spotify for Windows Phone 8 app has finally
arrived to stream on-demand music on smartphones. Though a Spotify client was
previously available for Windows Phone 7, the music streaming service had not
updated its app to support the first wave of devices running Microsoft's latest
operating system. Today's update rectifies that problem.
Spotify
is rolling out now to the Windows Phone Store, but it may take a few hours to
appear on all devices. The app supports a music library with millions of songs
that can be streamed, downloaded for offline use, or added to playlists. A
$9.99 monthly subscription is required to use Spotify on Windows Phone 8, but
new users can try out the app with a 48-hour trial.
